We took Madi and Marcus's bridals (I can't call them groomals...that word is just wrong) at the Young Living lavendar fields in Mona. Dreamy place, dreamy light, and a ~~dreamy~~... err gorgeous couple.

Isn't her dress beautiful? Her Mother in law MADE it for her!

My baby sister got married last week, I still can't believe it. She was my little buddy growing up. We had the same best friend for quite a few years which meant we spent lots of days playing together in the summer jumping on tramps and having sleepovers. Even though we are different in more ways than we are similar we still have that special connection that only sisters have. This one time we played catch phrase and I had just gotten a new word to act out and I couldn't think of a way to do it, so I just looked at Madi and she totally knew what I was going for and she guessed right without me even saying a word! Our brains are totally on the same page sometimes :). I was just thinking the other day about how she's not MY little buddy (I say "little" but she taller than me, that stinker ;) anymore, she'll be Marcus's buddy. It was kind of sad coming to that realization, but somehow really cool too. Marcus is such a good guy and so good to Madi, and they really are a perfect match. I know he will take care of her better than anyone else could. I'm so happy they found each other and so happy to have another brother.
I've been holding on to their pictures until after the wedding so there will be a lot the next few days, here we go!
Her face is so sweet in this one, she looks so happy and content I just love it :).

And these are cream soda bottles folks, not bud bottles, just wanted to clarify ;)

I had been wanting to try this idea for a while and they were kind enough to be my guinea pigs. I had planned on this just using this for my portfolio, but they ended up liking this one the best and used it for their engagement shot.

I went out to visit and photograph the Larson Family in St. Louis a while back. It was so fun hanging out with them and snapping photos along the way.
There were soo many beautiful places to photograph there, it was amazing! I still miss all the green.

I've never seen a group of siblings that get along so well! They were so sweet with each other.

This one is totally my favorite! I love when families can show their silly side :).

Hey what's this? A new post? yep that's right folks, a brand new post to feast your eyes upon. I figure I should use some of my break time to get caught up in the blog-o-sphere.
Remember my cousin AnnaLeah? She is quite the smarty pants. She's got the triple threat thing going for her; brains, talent, and beeeauty!
We took these senior photos of her back in....ohh, you know...May. I've been keeping these stashed away way too long!
We woke up veeeerry early to get this warm glowey light. It definitely paid off.

Closing Shop

I'm closing shop for a while, yes this was kind of the point of my last post, but this is a bit different. I came to the conclusion the other night while talking with Joel that I need an extended break from my little business. It felt right. I was planning on just taking a break until the end of September, but I decided I need more time than that. I'm not sure when I'll start things back up again, but I will be sure to post it on the blog when I do.
As much as I love photography (capturing love through my lens and then the creative process in photoshop after) I'm doing this because there are other things I feel need my full attention at the moment. I'm doing this because my life in front of a computer screen is sadly taking it's toll. I'm doing this because I don't want photography to become a "job". I like it too much for that. I'm doing this because I want to be healthy, and because I learned that I need to take care of myself first (you have to put on your own oxygen mask first right?).
When I come back I'll have an updated blog/website, a more defined style/brand, and updated pricing. I'm excited for the changes that are coming and excited to have a little breather.

If I already set up a photo session with you or haven't sent you your pictures yet, worry not :) I totally haven't forgotten you and am definitely not canceling anything or putting off any retouching.

Total De ja vu moment typing this post. It was about the same time last year that I got backed up with photo shoots and tapped out for a break, well it's time for me to do it again. I just need some time to get a little more caught up and enjoy the last few summery days left with my handsome honey. Not sure when I'll be opening up shop again (maybe end of Septemberish?), we'll see how things go.
Here are some of the shoots I'm working on finishing up.

I went out to St. Louis to take pics for this awesome family! There were so many awesome places to take pictures there.

We took these pictures when the Smiths were in town visiting from D.C. on a bitterly cold October (yes these are from October....) evening, you can't even tell they were cold by their smiles, they were good sports and totally worked it for the camera!

I was so lucky to be able to take Ty and Becca's wedding pictures. They are such a sweet and fun loving couple.
They opted to take their photos before their big day, which I think is a splendid idea. I kind of wish I would have done that!

I was able to photograph so many amazing and beautiful people this past year. I just really wanted to say thank you to my clients, family, and friends for letting me capture your love, beauty, and all around "awesomeness". I learned a lot in 2009 and can't wait to see what 2010 holds in store.

even though I'm taking a break from shooting, I decided I definitely don't want to take a break from blogging. I love my little blog and don't like to leave it alone for very long. I'll be posting some shoots here and there along with some other interesting things in the next month. first up is my sweet little niece jayci and her cute momma, jenny. We took these for jayci's 2nd birthday and thought we'd do a few maternity pictures of jenny as well (who has since had her baby. he was in the last post). I just love these two girls.

Taking a little break

It's that time of year again! Hot chocolate and sweaters, warm fuzzy socks, and time for me to start thinking about Christmas! Woot woot! I've decided to take a little winter break to hang with Joel and our families, enjoy the Christmas season, and to get caught up on some pictures for family. My family waits to get their images while I work on pictures for other clients. This year has been pretty busy, so they've had to wait for a while....your waiting patiently right? .....you guys still love me right? hehe..... I love you? :)
I'll start booking sessions for 2010 on January 23rd!
When the new year starts I'll be making a few changes. After a lot of thought I have decided to focus on Family, Wedding, and High School Senior photography, which means I won't be taking appointments for newborn or baby sessions for the time being.
I'm hoping to focus my attention to these three areas and maybe in the future move back into studio portraiture. We'll see how things go!

This is one of my lovely sisters, yeah I'm lucky, I have 7 of them (3 sisters, 4 sister in-laws)! We took these several weeks ago and she has been patiently awaiting the final result. I think they turned out pretty nice!

Funny story... So I was just telling Joel how I really liked the chipped paint on the playground equipment (it adds some sweet texture don't you think?) and apparently he is partially responsible for the paint job! Lol. He helped his younger brother paint all the playground stuff for his Eagle Project. I love how it looks in these pics, and I'm so glad these two wanted to take pics at a park! I love trying new locations!

I think this pic and the next one tie as my favorite of the day!

Hey peeps, I'm swamped for the rest of Aug. so I won't be able to accept any more appointments until September...maybe the middle of September. I don't have a ton of shoots set up, but I'm behind on editing the shoots I already have done. I'm just trying to find the balance with my day job, photographer part time job, and home life with my handsome hubby. Thanks to the people who are patiently awaiting their finished pics! I'll get them sent out as soon as I can.

Wow I've been pretty busy lately! I don't think I've ever had this many sessions right in a row! It's been lots of fun and lots of work, so I wanted to give a BIG thanks to all the family's and parent's of cute little ones that have been so patient with me as I get these photos edited and sent out.
I'm still working on these next three shoots, but I just had to put up a couple. I'm really excited about these! Aren't these boys ADORABLE?! And the legs belong to my gorgeous sister Jessica! I just photographed my last wedding of the summer on Friday so I'm breathing a huge sigh of relief!!! It was exciting and fun but also a little nerve racking since I'm still a newbie. Now on to the editing!
BIG thanks to my main man Joel who carried my bag and let me boss him around ;) . He took back up shots for me and calmed me down when I was anxious. I love you!
Thanks to the brides and grooms who let me capture their special day. I think my favorite part about shooting weddings is seeing all the love and happiness shared between family and friends. What fun.
